Large French serving dish with a salamander decoration, the fetish and emblematic animal of the King of France François 1st (1494 - 1547). He was named the King Builder.
The salamander is found on the facades or in the decorations of many buildings and castles he built, such as the splendid Château de Chambord.
This earthenware dish from Salins is splendid, it has a very royal design. It is in very good condition. Some traces of use but almost nothing. It's lovely!
