Here is a beautiful hollow plate from the late 19th century. It is a plate where you can see the famous Château de Pierrefond.
This hollow plate can be exposed or served as a salad plate, soup, gazpacho, etc.
It is a magnificent plate in earthenware of clairefontaine signed LG.
To know the different eras of the manufacture of the faience factory of Clairefontaine:
- JFE (or sometimes nothing) between 1804 and 1833 (Jean-François Estienne) - JBR (or sometimes nothing) between 1833 and 1860 (Jean-Baptiste Rigal) - RS between 1860 and 1885 (Rigal / Sanejouand) - RG between 1885 and 1893 (Sanejouand /Graves) - LG, therefore, between 1894 and 1913 (Léon Graves) - "Veuve Graves" from 1913
Moreover, "Terre de Fer" is a label that designates fine earthenware, halfway between earthenware and porcelain: a earthenware to which is mixed feldspat - mineral compound - and kaolin, to make it whiter and more resistant.
The iron land appeared in France around 1770, and really spread after the industrial revolution to reach its peak around 1900.
This plate is in excellent condition. No breach, no gaps. Nickel!
This motif of the castles of France is very rare to find. It is at the same time, chic, elegant, refined and splendid!
